Background: Pair Off was created by Ed Gaut from San Diego, California in 1959. “Those designated will take opposite for a new partner and as a pair turn backs to the center of the set.”

In 1980 it was in the Plus One Program List. About 1982 it was moved to the A-1 Program List. In 2026 it was returned to the Plus Program.

Definition

Starting formations: Facing Dancers, neither of whom is facing the flagpole center of the set, only.

Dance action: Dancers face out to end as a Couple. From a Static Square, the designated dancers will first step forward into the center.
