THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE
Wes McVicar’s 75 Favorite Square Dance Calls #46

First Couple through the garden gate,
Down the centre and through the gate,
Step along don’t hesitate,
Now twist ’em early, twist ’em late,
All join hands and balance eight.

Down the centre and the inside gate,
Hurry along, don’t hesitate,
You twist ’em early, twist ’em late,
And join your hands and balance eight.

Go down the centre, the middle gate,
Twist ’em young and twist ’em late.

Same couple through the last old gate,
And all swing your own wee date.

Description:

All join hands except first gent and his lady.
The first couple leads across and between third couple.
The gent turns left and his lady right and they twist everyone back to place.

The next time the first couple separates and the first gent goes between couple #4 and couple #3 while the first lady goes between couple #2 and couple #3.
(The inside gate is between the side couple and the opposite couple.)

The third time the first couple separates and the first gent goes between the lady and the gent in couple #4 while the first lady goes between the lady and the gent in couple #2.
(The middle gate is between the two dancers in the side couple.)

Finally first gent turns under his own left arm and first lady under her own right arm.
