Arm Turns

Standard Applications:
a) Left Arm Turn
— i) Center 4-Dancer Right-Hand Star with others in Static Square Positions or Circle, 4 Boys in Center Star
Comment: (e.g., Boys Star Right, Turn Partner Left Halfway, Four Ladies Chain) Also feasible if 4 girls are in the Center Star but seldom used.
— ii) Right and Left Grand Circle, Boys facing one way, Girls facing the other way
Comment: One common example is: Walk Around Your Corner, Turn Partner Left, Four Ladies Chain.
— iii) Waves or Columns, All Arrangements
Comment: Left Arm Turns can be successfully used with fractions in place of Single Hinge, Trade or Cast Off 3/4.
b) Right Arm Turn
— i) 4-Dancer Left-Hand Star or 4-Dancer Single File Promenade with others in Static Square or Circle, 4 Boys in Center Star or Promenade
Comment: Called most often in singing call choreography and requires clear directions on who is interacting. (e.g., Boys Promenade, Turn Partner Right, Allemande Left)
— ii) Right and Left Grand Circle, All 4 Boys facing one way, all 4 Girls facing the other way
Comment: (e.g., Grand Right and Left, Turn Your Partner Right, Allemande Left)
— iii) Alamo Style Ring, BGBG
Comment: One common use is Alamo Swing Thru, Turn Your Partner Right.
— iv) Waves or Columns, All Arrangements
