Background: The Hinge Family was created in 1970 by Ron Schneider from Berea, Ohio. The 1976 CALLERLAB Mainstream Program list shows the Hinge Family including Couples, Single, and Partner. Partner Hinge was removed from the Mainstream Program in 1988 and it was added to the A-1 Program in 2000.

Definition

Starting formations: From a Couple only

Dance action: Hinge, finishing in a Right-Hand Mini-Wave at right angles to the original couple, with the new handhold centered on the original handhold.

Ending formations:
— A Completed Double Pass Thru formation ends in a Right-Hand Tidal Wave.
— Lines Facing Out end in Parallel Right-Hand Waves.
