Choreography for Patter Teaching with Singing Call Options:
Teaching Tips:
Ocean Wave Family
A.) Don’t stand shoulder to shoulder, step back to see the wave.
B.) Balance is like a “Charleston” dance move, forward touch and back touch.
C.) Should be able to see the wave crest as it rises and falls with each balance.
D.) Spread apart just a little while forming waves, square breathing, to allow more space within the formation.
More teaching suggestions:
— A balance should occur on either the first four or the last four beats of an eight beat phrase. That means the caller should appropriately pre-cue the dancers.
— A pleasing variation is to use a quick two-step (step, close, step, hold) forward and a quick two-step (step, close, step, hold) back.
Quick quote: “Forward, touch, back, touch”
