Standard Applications:

a) Left-Hand Star
— i) Static Square, Normal Couples
Comment: Caller may designate Heads, Sides, Boys, Girls or all eight to be active.

— ii) Double Pass Thru, Heads, Sides, Boys or Girls in the center and active
Comment: This is called most often where dancers are coming out of a Right-Hand Star with the outsides (Heads or Sides Star Left in the center or Heads Star Left halfway to the other Side).

— iii) Circle moving CCW, All Arrangements
Comment: Caller may designate 4 Boys or 4 Girls Star Left (commonly used) or all Eight Star Left (uncommon).

— iv) Right and Left Grand Circle, BGBG, (Boys facing one way, Girls facing the other)
Comment: 4 Boys Star Left is most common and usually follows Dosado.
Also possible: Allemande Left, Turn Partner Right half, Girls Star Left.

b) Right-Hand Star
— i) Static Square, Normal Couples
Comment: Caller may designate Heads, Sides, Boys, Girls or all eight to be active.

— ii) Circle moving CW, All Arrangements
Comment: Caller may designate 4 Boys Star Right (common) or 4 Girls Star Right, or all Eight Star Right (rare).

— iii) Eight Chain Thru, “0” (Normal Couples)
Comment: Commonly used as the first half of a pair (e.g., Make a Right Hand Star, Heads Star Left in the center).

— iv) Right and Left Grand Circle, BGBG, (All of one gender facing one way)
Comment: (e.g., Walk Around the Corner, See Saw your partner, Boys Star Right)
