Choreography for Patter Teaching with Singing Call Options:

Teaching Tips:

Ocean Wave Family
A.) Don’t stand shoulder to shoulder, step back to see the wave.
B.) Balance is like a “Charleston” dance move, forward touch and back touch.
C.) Should be able to see the wave crest as it rises and falls with each balance.
D.) Spread apart just a little while forming waves, square breathing, to allow more space within the formation.

More teaching suggestions:

— This is the first time dancers see the wave formation, so it is the time to explain how to recognize a Right-Hand Wave and a Left-Hand Wave.
— “Dosado to a Wave” is italicized in the Basic Program list because it needs the wave formation. It can easily be taught along with “Step to a Wave”.
— In CALLERLAB’s suggested teaching order, this is the time to introduce “All Eight Circulate” from waves. The definition and related information can be found in the Basic Part 1 section of this resource under Circulate – Eight & Single File.

Quick quote for Step to a Wave: “Join right hands”
